IBPYP and IBMYP Information

Trinity Lutheran College has engaged in a feasibility study to gauge local support for the introduction of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program across the College. We are excited about to be introducing the IB Program.

The IB program is known for its academic and personal rigour. Students are challenged to excel in both their studies and in their personal growth.

The Primary Years Program (PYP) from Prep to year 5 or 6 has a focus on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and the world outside. The framework is guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from the subject areas of language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts and personal, social and physical education, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry.

The Middle Years Program (MYP) is potentially a 5 year program starting from year 6 or 7 to 10 and provides a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement.

There are eight subject groups including the study of a second language for the first 3 years of the MYP. The students are empowered to participate in service within the community and is strong preparation for further education and training, the workplace and a lifetime of learning.
