Camping Program
Learning outside of the classroom
Camping is an opportunity for students to learn and interact with their teachers and their peers outside of the classroom environment. The secondary camps at Trinity support the personal development of our students and incorporate personal challenge, teamwork and leadership activities. Each secondary year level has a week long camp each year. The cost of all school camps and excursions are included in the fee schedule and this ensures maximum participation by students.
Year 7 – Victor Harbor
Year 7 students head off at the start of the year for a week-long aquatics camp at Victor Harbor, swapping iPads, books and classes for wetsuits, surf and sand. During the week students participate in lifesaving activities, boogie boarding, synchronised kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and snorkelling. They have a break from the water and travel to various other local sites for activities such as archery, mini golf and rock climbing.
Year 8 – The Grampians
Year 8 students participate in a week long outdoor challenge camp in The Grampians. The students currently stay at the Tandara Lutheran campsite at Halls Gap. The camp has a focus on teamwork and overcoming personal challenges to achieve success. Students are involved in activities such as hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, abseiling, the “leap of faith” and high ropes. On the return trip, they visit Halls Gap zoo and interact with the native fauna.
Year 9 – Sydney
Year 9 students embark on a journey to central Sydney. The camp will make Australian culture come alive as students explore the history, geography, multicultural society and the arts environs that Sydney presents. Activities that the students may engage in include a ferry trip to Parramatta, exploring The Rocks, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour precinct, visiting the Sydney Opera House and hopefully attending a performance and generally having a taste of big city culture.
Year 10 – The Snow
Year 10 students will venture to the snowfields for a week. This camp will reinforce leadership and teamwork skills of students as well as providing a fun filled time to celebrate their final year of schooling at Trinity.
