Secondary Years Curriculum
Inspire. Innovate. Connect.
The secondary school encompasses Years 7 to 10 and is a vibrant and supportive learning environment that provides opportunities for discovery, creativity and independence. Excellence in the classroom is encouraged and students are supported to maximise every learning opportunity.
Trinity is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. The MYP program will be incrementally implemented commencing with years 7 and 8 in 2018 and adding year 9 in 2019 and year 10 in 2020.
The MYP discipline areas will enable each student to explore specific knowledge and skills while developing inquiry and higher order thinking skills. They will identify connections between what is being studied; how it can be applied in an authentic context; and challenged to take meaningful action in the local or global community.
MYP teaches tools for lifelong learning and fosters responsible attitudes that help students discover how to use what they learn to take principled action. The MYP focus on independent learning makes it the ideal preparation for VCE, vocational education or any other further studies in Year 11 and 12.
